What is it like to work with me?
I use humor and vulnerability to build trust and cultivate a relationship in which you feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self.
I approach my clients holistically. I know that our work together involves your entire body-mind-spirit. Recognizing that each of my clients has likely sustained trauma (often in academia), I cultivate space for you to guide the direction of our work. And I proceed gently.
I hold space for the best version of you. I center that version of you until you can see it for yourself.
How do I approach coaching and mentoring?
I observe how you navigate the world and ask about how your brain works so that I can adapt my mentorship in support of your learning and communication styles.
I coach my clients on energy management and encourage you to be aware of what most drains you and what fills your energy to the brim. So instead of time, consider how much energy a task will take. And be gentle on yourself. Instead of judging, just observe, with equanimity. What interesting lessons can you learn by noticing what brings you energy and what depletes it? (Credit to Dr. Autumn BlackDeer, who provided the language for this approach.)
I do not believe in throwing my clients into the “deep end” before you are ready. I clearly articulate next steps and support you in the process until you cultivate the confidence to do it yourself.
How do my values inform my work?
I know that the success of an individual is only possible with the support of a community. When you work with me, you become a member of my community. The work I do with you is part of my community care practice, sustaining members of my collective in the areas where institutional structures have not supported us.
I trust my intuition, and I empower you to trust yours. Through open-ended questions and purposeful reflection, I guide you to discover your own wisdom.
